  1. Received check for $50 for the Conservation Congress from the Downsville Sportman Club..


2. Discussed Building of Kiosk for Cedar Falls Boat landing.


3. Discussed Raffle at the Banquet for Knopse Family. Amount will be $1140.

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

September 24, 2012



  1. CALL TO ORDER

President Chad Mogen called the meeting to order. Chad showed a few slides from his recent trip to Alaska.


  1. SECRETARY’S REPORT-BRIDGET SCHROEDER

A reading of the minutes was waived due to them being published in the newsletter, email and posted on the website Mike Benzel moved and Dave Moore seconded a motion to accept the minutes as printed in the newsletter. Motion carried.


  1. TREASURER’S REPORT-HELMUTH ALBRECHT

­­­­Bonnie Hagberg moved and Len Frank seconded a motion to accept the treasurer's report. Motion carried.

  1. CORRESPONDENCE-CHAD MOGEN

Letter read from Connie Price Salquist, thanking the Club for

the wonderful tribute to her Father Willard Price.


  1. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORT-CHAD MOGEN

President Chad Mogen presented the Executive Committee Report


  1. DNR REPORT- JIM CLEVEN, JESS CARSTEN

Jess Carsten reported about the DHG. Nothing confirmed in the local area. (Fast acting viral disease) Wolf hunt is currently a go, but removed Dogs. Going to be asking for an emergency dog hunt. There has been about 20 Bear taken from the local area, about six taken in Dunn County.


  1. DUNN COUNTY CONSERVATION ALLIANCE REPORT-SCOTT SINZ

Wants a sign at the Cedar Falls boat landing that will hold all the smaller signs with the information for the local area for regulations, etc. Estimating the Cost around $150. Tabled for additional information on what is needed. Alliance approved for the signing for the Trust to apply for the stewardship funds. Signed an agreement for the land that allows it to be kept off the market for one year while they work on trying to get funding. Discussed the property on River for Dobbs landing. Money from Downsville Sportsman Club for reimbursement. Scott Sinz thanked everyone for the award of the Conservation award.

Russ Hitz passed out a sheet with all the information as to who is

on the Conservation Congress and who is on which committees.

Request that the information is posted.

c. FALL BANQUET – DAVE MOORE & BRIDGET SCHROEDER –

Down a little bit, but still raised around $20,000. Over all the Banquet went well. Report on Duke Holmberg, Wayne Wilson and Dave Moore for the most ticket sales. Follow-up meeting on October 15, 7 p.m.

  1. HUNTER SAFETY- DUKE HOLMBERG

Graduated 60. Gave the bar over $700 from Sales during the different classes that have been held. Once again the Hunter Safety Graduates had Fleet Farm give the fanny pack full of Goodies and Downsville Sportsman gave them flashlights.


  1. ICE FISHING CONTEST – Mike Kistner/Les Kuesel

Meeting has been scheduled for October 29 at 7 p.m.


  1. Kitchen – Bonnie Hagberg

Thanked everyone for helping her during the banquet and for giving her a change to do the banquet.


  1. LEGISLATIVE/XCEL ENERGY – MIKE BENZEL

DNR is holding a meeting with Xcel Energy.

  1. PHEASANT REARING- BOB KISTNER & SCOTT SESTON

DNR will be getting their pheasants on October 10 about 9 a.m.

Pheasant release will be on Saturday, October 13 at 8 a.m. The list of pheasant points is posted.


  1. RIFLE RANGE- DUKE HOLMBERG

Around 55 kids came and shot and ran through the Pheasant Forever group. PF took care of everything. Dave Peterson donated and cooked 60 pizzas. The kids had a really good time.

m. SCHOLARSHIP - WAYNE WILSON

The fund is back to where it was a few years ago, over $50,000. The fund for the Life membership is currently getting over 6%

Talked about the Squirrel Hunt. Dates are 13th October. Bonnie is feeding the people for the Squirrel Hunt. Whispering Emerald Springs is hosting a Bird Hunt - 9 a.m on October 27. Dunn Gobbling Long Spurs donated $400 for youth events. Requesting
