July 22, 2013

Members Present: Gary Schwoch, Les Kuesel, Scott Seston, Kellen Cassellius, Bill Schutts, Jim Thompson, Dave Peckmiller, Martha Stratton, Gary Buss, Chad Mogen, Garrett Sinz and Len Frank

  1. Old Business:

  1. Separate Bar and Building Account and Association Account. Just to clarify, accounts are and have been separate, but we are separating how we pay the bills so that the bar account is not paying all the bills for the building, such as heat, electric and phone, etc.

  2. Tree removal – Chad Mogen and DNR Contact-Plan to talk to a person that may be able to help us out with some removal. This person does the tree trimming for the wood chips and because of the spring damage there is currently an overrun of chips, so he is waiting as he wants to be able to sell the wood chips and will do the work for free.

  3. $ sent to Menomonie Park Department ~A question was asked about the money promised to the park department for the new handicapped dock. We are waiting to get the dock we were promised as part of the money exchanged.

  4. $ sent to Michael La Rock~He was paid. Project is about 90% complete.

  5. Building addition update~Currently waiting for a budgets and prices for the heating and the fire information, as to if we would need a sprinkler system and will get that information to the committee. Discussion was held about our building rental competition. Whispering Emerald Ridge, DAV, Vision Quest.

  6. Fall Fishing Contest update~We have four sponsors. Need to get more sponsors or we will have to table the event and try again next year.

  1. New Business:

  1. Wolske Bay Update-Mayor Knaack: Request to attend the City Council Meeting on August 5 at 7 p.m. in Support of the plan to clean up the lake. He explained a couple of his ideas. He feels that we need to try something, and is open to a couple of ideas, but really would like to try to clean up Wolske’s Bay. The Mayor needs people to support the clean-up. During the discussion about the clean up, one suggestion was to close the Wolske Bay Hill.

  2. Accept Heather Kistner’s Resignation. Discussion of her resignation. Board voted in favor to accept Heather’s resignation.

  3. Conservationist of the Year Nominees: Discussion of many members and people in the community. The board voted in favor of ?) and it will be announced at the Banquet.

  4. Executive Board Meeting Times and Dates: Seems like there hasn’t been enough time to get everything done, so there was a discussion as to when to hold additional meetings. It was decided that we would look at the agenda items on a month to month basis to determine if more time is needed and then hold an extra board meeting. Discussed having the Bar Manager attend board meeting.

  5. Website updating: Discussion about getting the website updated and having a new person take it over, since it is the understanding the Tim did not plan to do it forever. Ginger Rossiter has shown an interest and if she is willing to do it, she will have a budget of $100 for software if needed.

  6. Other ~Request from the Mogen’s to host a Pancake feed for the Hoop’s Club to support the Muscular Dystrophy drive during the Firefighter’s Kick Ball Tournament on August 24. Request approved if the Building is not currently rented. Building is already booked.
